Memory/Alzheimer’s Care Facilities

Memory/Alzheimer’s Care Facilities are also referred to as Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE) for age 60+. These settings can be a stand-alone facility or a designated section of a larger RCFE specially designed for memory care services. Most care settings will have delayed egress doors with coded entrance/exit to prevent wandering. Programming and staffing in Memory and Alzheimer’s Care Facilities is developed to care for those with memory impairment. The size of a memory care facility can range from
20 – 65 residents.

      • May have RN/LVN on staff
      • Secure environment for memory care
      • Hospice waiver to provide end-of-life care

Costs:

      • Shared room: $4000+/month
      • Private room: $5500+/month
      • Month-to-month rent
      • One-time community fee

How services are paid for:

      • Private pay
      • Long-term care insurance (LTC) (may have elimination period)
      • Veterans Aid & Attendance pension
      • Medi-Cal—Assisted Living Waiver Program (ALWP)
